We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and exceptional manager. Our ideal candidate will be a professional manager with excellent leadership qualities and a strong commercial flair who can make a major contribution to the continuing development of the British Postal Museum and Archive (BPMA) as it moves into a new era.

The BPMA cares for 400 years of the history of Royal Mail and the postal industry. We are currently located in central London but we are looking to create and move to a new archive and museum centre alongside English Heritage and the National Trust in central Swindon in 2012/2013.

Following the retirement of our first CEO, we are looking for someone to:

  • Develop and manage the BPMA both strategically and operationally
  • Provide high quality access and visitor experiences
  • Develop business plans and deliver strategic aims
  • Represent the BPMA both nationally and internationally

You will have proven skills and experience in:

  • Change management
  • Financial planning and fund raising
  • Advocacy

and have experience in the museum, library or archive sector.
