BPMA appoints Commercial Manager

7 July 2014

The British Postal Museum & Archive (BPMA) is delighted to announce the appointment of Emma Allen as Commercial Manager.

Emma joins BPMA at an exciting time in its development, following a £4.5m Heritage Lottery Fund grant that will see a new, national postal museum open in 2016 and including a subterranean ride on the old Post Office Underground Railway – Mail Rail.

A graduate of Oxford Brookes University, Emma joins BPMA from London Museum of Water & Steam (formerly Kew Bridge Steam Museum), where she worked as Commercial Manager during a major refurbishment project. Emma will be working on developing BPMA’s commercial activity in the lead up to the opening of The Postal Museum.

“To be part of such an important social history project, based on one of our country’s greatest exports is a fantastic opportunity”, said Emma. “The BPMA is an ambitious organisation that is going to continue growing significantly over the next few years and I look forward to using my skills to help ensure the success of The Postal Museum.”

“Emma brings a wealth of commercial skills and experience to BPMA at a vital time in the organisation’s development,” said Adrian Steel, Director at BPMA. “Over the next two years we will go from being a limited access business archive to a 180,000 a year national museum. The Postal Museum, including Mail Rail, will open up our collections as never before and tell the story of Britain’s social and communications history through its internationally iconic postal service”.
